ABOUT BEN

Hi, I'm Ben Riffell

I was born and raised in a small, rural town in southern Ohio, with a population of about 900. In 1992, I moved to Jessamine County to attend Asbury University, where I pursued a degree in Biology. It was there that I met my wife, Renee. She has served as a cardiac ICU nurse (MSN, RN) in Lexington for over 26 years and currently works as the MAGNET coordinator for Baptist Health Lexington. We have been married for 30 years and are blessed with three sons: Nathan, Nick, and Noah.

All three attended elementary school in Wilmore, then moved on to West Jessamine Middle and High Schools. Nathan graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Engineering and is married to Camille, who is also a proud UK graduate. Nick is a sophomore at Asbury University, studying Media and Communications, and Noah is a sophomore at West Jessamine High School. Our sons have all been actively involved in sports and extracurricular activities throughout their school years, and we have loved supporting them along the way.

I have lived and worked in Jessamine County for nearly three decades. My career began with four years at a distribution warehouse, and since 2001, I have served as Operations Manager at the Bluegrass Sportsmen’s League. Along the way, I’ve also taken on various smaller jobs and projects, always maintaining strong ties to our local community.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting many of my Jessamine County neighbors through work, volunteer efforts, and youth & adult activities. I am an active member of the Wilmore Free Methodist Church, where I serve on the Board of Administration and have taught an Adult Bible Fellowship Class for more than 20 years.

Faith and family are central to my life. I support fiscal responsibility, believe in fostering, supporting and protecting our private business sector.  I am pro-life and pro-Second Amendment.I also believe everyone deserves to be heard and treated with respect—no one should ever feel that they don’t matter.

While I wasn’t born in Kentucky, I have chosen to live, work, raise my family, and build lasting relationships here for over three decades. I care deeply about Jessamine County, it's resources, its people, and its future...not just because I'm interested, but because I'm invested...and I believe that makes all the difference.

I hope to earn your vote in the May primary and look forward to serving Jessamine County with the DEDICATION AND CARE YOU DESERVE.

Approachable. Attentive. Responsive.

I will be accessible, approachable and responsive to the people of District 2. In talking with many of you around the community, I’ve often sensed frustration—and I believe we don’t have to live with an “us versus them” mindset.

To help, I plan on introducing neighborhood “meet & greets” across District 2, where I’ll be available for face-to-face conversations near your homes. These scheduled opportunities will allow your voice to be heard directly. While we may not always agree, everyone deserves to be listened to with respect.

Let’s talk directly about the issues that affect you and your neighborhoods. Innovative. Simple. Effective. Your voice matters.
